I'd like to anounce that there is an official website [ www.poporu.com ]which provides some of the most well-known Arcade Games into a new decade, 2005 this year.
There are 7 games are on the list. There are 2 Fighting Games among the list
#1 KOF98
(There are currently 5,393 registered players on the ranking list. The numbers are growing so fast on a daily basis.)
#2 Samsho4
(There are currently 2,367 registered players on the ranking list. The numbers are also growing so fast since it's been introduced through an advertisment on "Sihon" (Korean, Official Samsho Website)
#3 Mslug2
#4 Top Hunter
#5 NeoGeo Cup 98
#6 Baseball Star2
#7 KOF2003 (Coming...)
I'm glad that Samsho4 was chosen to be one of the best all time fighter on the list.
Back to the point, the way it works for this new fighting system on the web is that you must register and play on the website. You have to DL a program that includes those 7 games and the program will also allow you to update a new game if there is anything to be added due to a high-demand among the registered players.
So far, there are 7 games and 2 of those are Fighters, KOF98 & Samsho4.
It's so amazing to see the power of any advertisement that brings people into a place and at the same time, it also tells that there are so many other people who are still seeking to find a place like this. I wish they all knew that there is a MAME, but at least, they found a place to enjoy their all time favorite game for now.
My perspective of playing a online game is very wide that will continue for more of a decade. Since we started emulating CPS & NeoGeo through late 90's, by the year of 2000, MAME finally brought people into a new world. Then, there was a Kalliera which brought the MAME into a online game. Nevertheless, it is yet to be so popular, considering the numbers of people who play a game on Kallier.net which is mainly due to a lack of promoting the exisitence among many MAME Source related websites. Second factor might be due to a lack of community website that provides a certain information about M.A.M.E ,or either anything related to promote a Kalliera.net which only exist to survive at this very moment.
Bad news is, unfortunately, Kalliera.Net is finally run out of their business which makes it impossible to bring anyone into M.A.M.E world for playing a online game with others.
Good news is, officially, the name so-called, "M.A.M.E" is recently being purchased by a commercial business that will continue bring this Arcade Games into a new decade. The question is, however, how are they going to run a business while providing a net-related sources (such as Roms...) to playing an Arcade games which are still illegal? (which is already happening in Korea & Japan, but how in US or Europe? but, the biggest support can come along in a short way, if we consider China which is the most place, selling or doing pretty much all legal, or illegal business in a marketing of game industry as well as Movies which I do not support. Because US is the most targeted place to lose the biggest profit due to an illegal copyright issue^^.)
I wonder that if any members are interested in discussing anything related to a new perspective on how are going to keep making this possible, or what's the next step that we can do such as running a whole new business into a MAME market place that can actually make something happen when the money gets involved. Everyone is thinking about it, cuz we all do feel and so do others that this is not just a hobby of some group of people, but more of a new trend, trying to figure out the best way to bring people together. In other words, the perspective of marketing in a Internet Business is always opened and ready to make money as long as they are people who visits the site to get something out of it.
I feel like we should get involved in a new project before someone else will take over. Of course, there is a rumor that Xbox2 will provide some of those(What Xbox already does) + online game(Arcade) possible, since there is already a hand-held 3D-consol called, "GP32" before PSP came out which allows you to play 3D games as well as any PC applications. There are currrently about 1,000 Arcade Games that can be played on GP32.
The U.S government has mandated that everyone should be provided with a high-speed internet by the end of 2006. The cable company will also provide 10x faster internet speed by the end of 2006.
When technology gets changed, the industry also gets so busy to figure out how to find a new way to sell their products before it becomes avaialbe on the internet for a free DL.
Internet 2 will be released by the year of 2007, or any sooner which is a total seperated system from a current Internet at a speed of 1,000 times faster compared to the current most-fastest avaiable by ISP.
Anyhow, the website is providing not only to play online games, but also a detail information of each player that also makes people to keep coming back to compete for each other. (Level, Ranking, Coins, Percentage....etc.) Of couse, as we know, Moosehead is already providing a ranking system on his own website. I know he is up to something, but it is hard to support him when this thing is still quiet complicated for many people. We gotta support and find the way to bring everything in one place. That's the best way to keep this alive and enjoy for another decade. I believe, the game industry should also open up their eyes and see it differently.
Since Sony lost the law suit over twice due to an illegal copyright issue, now, it's proven that there is nothing wrong to provide a source as long as you do not sell the Roms which is already available as simple as DL a MP3 song. We have I-Tune, and other 3rd party program that allows users to DL MP3 songs. That's what this website is doing right now. But, it's even free, except I am sure they will make some money out of something like an advertisment through a 3rd party which can also provide some of those new games, helping the game industry as well. The game industry do not care as long as they can make money. Promoting is also another way to make money in the first step. I think that this website can also provide a free demo game through their update system for their registered users, so people get to experience some of the console, or arcade games beforehand without actually owning a system. Some of them will actually buy their product if they are interested in. The game industry is just crying out loud to a competition that becomes harder and more demans. If they can not provide what people want, it's not our problem. That's what people are trying to do besides.
Let's hope that we can see this in a long run.
Thanks for being a member.
